The Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) unites people through programs and experiences to empower cancer survivors to live life on their own terms and to raise awareness and funds for the fight against cancer. The LAF focuses on cancer prevention, access to screening and care, research and quality of life for cancer survivors. Founded in 1997 by cancer survivor and champion cyclist Lance Armstrong, the LAF’s mission is to inspire and empower people affected by cancer. The LAF’s goal is to make cancer a national priority.

Ambigrams are words which are crafted in such a manner that they are legible from more than one vantage point. Most common are the words which read same right side up and upside down. Symbiotograms are those which read one word right side up and another word upside down. Symbiotograms are generally a nice way to show the ‘bondage’ of loved ones.

Douglas R. Hofstadter describes an ambigram as a “calligraphic design that manages to squeeze two different readings into the selfsame set of curves.” According to practitioner John Langdon, ambigrams were independently invented by himself and by Scott Kim in the 1970s. Kim used the name Inversions as the title of his first collection in 1981. The first published reference to “ambigram” was by Hofstadter, who attributes the origin of the word to conversations among a small group of friends during 1983–1984. Ambigrams became much more popular as a result of Dan Brown incorporating them into the plot of his bestseller, Angels & Demons.

Ambigram designs can be used as tattoos, wedding cards, visiting cards, t-shirts, or just a framed photo. They make up for a perfect gift for any occassion.

Komal Akash

This symbiotogram (“Komal” reads “Akash” when turned upside down) was commissioned by Poornima and her friends who wanted to gift it to their friends Akash and Komal on their wedding.

The ambigram has been done in a nice calligraphic script with lots of loops. This work was tougher than it looks – especially Ko/H.

I think i’ve pulled out a well readable artwork here.

Its still work in progress as the kinks are being sorted out.

Goes out to show that any name/names can be made into a lovely looking art!

This ambigram was commissioned by Elyse. She wanted the similar font/style as done for symbtiogram for Danielle/Jakeil. The ambigram has been done in a stylized font with lots of ornamental loops and flourishings, which creates a beautiful sense of art.

This is ambigram for ‘DanielleandJakeil’. This has been done with a stylish font.
This was part of commission that Danielle did. The couple however went with the earlier symbiotogram Danielle/Jakeil and not this ambigram for their wedding cards.

This symbiotogram was commissioned by Allan as a wedding gift for Harry and Aruna. It has been done in a stylish calligraphic script with much flowing around. It is quite readable and looks terrific. This ambigram has been widely appreciated by a lot of people who want their tattoos to have the same style.

It has been done in an Edwardian font with lots of flourishes. The ‘S’ is a cursive S.

This ambigram was commissioned by Poornima Ravi as a gift for her brother Arvind who weds Meena this year. This design will be used in the wedding card design. It has been done in a flowly Edwardian Script and looks gorgeous.
